   Times are harsh out there. You might want to buy mom diamonds and pearls this Mother’s Day, but your adjustable rate mortgage just went up again, the gas tank is on E, and you just took a job with a lower wage because you were laid off ten months ago and the unemployment is running out.    This Sunday take mom to a place of glitz and glamour for a full on, eat till your stuffed gourmet buffet at Forte in downtown Birmingham. Located at 201 S. Woodward, the place to see and be seen will be serving glazed ham, salmon, pastries and other breakfast delicacies during the morning. For dinner, the chef’s have cooked up a menu serving chicken, steak, vegetable and pasta bars alongside their signature desserts. You and mom can dine for just $29.99. If you‘re taking the kids along, its $13.95 for children ages 4-10.    If dinning in the D is more your style there is only one restaurant where breakfast is their game and worth every minute of the wait: The Detroit Breakfast House & Grill.  Owned, by the Southern Hospitality Group, led by Frank Taylor, this gem in the heart of downtown serves up sophisticated dishes with a down home taste. The grill is open from 8.a.m to 4 p.m., so even if you get out of your religious services late, or just enjoy sleeping in, you and you mom can choose to enjoy Franks stuffed French toast, banana fosters pancakes, signature turkey sausage or a side of fresh fruit mid-afternoon.  Prices range from $8.00 to $14.00 for entrée’s and $3.00 to $4.00 for sides.    Juliano’s Restaurant in Warren, is serving up the ultimate in authentic ethnic cuisine to celebrate mom. This home-style Italian restaurant specializes in freshly made pastas, pork loin, prime rib, chicken, and traditional pastries. More options will be available for the low price of $15.95 for adults and $8.50 for children 10 and under.
