Gladys Knight Headlines Chris Webber's 3rd Annual C-Webb's Bada Bling Weekend
Posted: 8/6/2008

Now in its third year, proceeds from the event continue to benefit The Chris Webber Foundation which assists in the development of schools that encourage academically talented and critical thinking youth who exhibit self- determination and self-discipline. The Foundation has also initiated charitable events or programs in Oakland/San Francisco, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., and communities affected by Hurricane Katrina.

.The Bada Bling Soiree, the weekend's marquis event, took place Saturday evening in the Grand Ballroom at Planet Hollywood. Fans gathered around the red carpet arrivals during the social hour to see the numerous celebrities make their way into the gala. Among the attendees at the soiree were actresses Tichina Arnold, Elise Neal, Jill Marie Jones, Kenya Moore, Shawna Lee and Wendy Raquel Robinson. Actors Terry Crews and Idris Elba, as well as model/radio host Claudia Jordan and singer L'il Mo also walked the red carpet. Professional basketball players Baron Davis, Mark Jackson, Richard Hamilton, Juwan Howard, Shavlik Randolph, Matt Barnes and many others enjoyed the evening's festivities as well.

It was then time for the main attraction - incredible musical performances. Multiple Grammy Award winner Raphael Saadiq returned again for the third year to entertain, and was joined on stage by Too $hort in an impromptu performance that brought the crowd to its feet. Knight was in top-notch form and performed some of her classics, including "Love Overboard," Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me," End of the Road and "I've Got to Use My Imagination." Her hit "Midnight Train to Georgia" was one of the highlights of the evening. The event wound down with a private party at Koi, where D-Nice returned and showcased his talent once again, mixing a wide variety of music for the crowd

"I want to thank everyone for their support during the 3rd annual Bada Bling weekend," said Webber. "For me, it was amazing and by far our best one yet. To have a legend like Gladys Knight on stage was really overwhelming; I'm so honored that she came and performed. And for individuals as talented as Raphael Saadiq, Mark Curry and Finesse Mitchell to once again join me on stage at the Soiree was wonderful. Best of all, we had a great time while raising funds for The Chris Webber Foundation, which will go to the future development of schools for deserving youth."
