Dresscode for Detroit's City Council ??
After taking out the last administration’s trash and still sweeping through a sludge scandal that has ongoing federal investigations with a city council that spends more time entertaining America on YouTube and shutting down Cobo expansion progress than it does with actual city business – Mayor Dave Bing has to reposition the way Detroit is viewed globally. With this in mind, dress code would obviously be a factor.
Mayor Bing has decided that business dress code should include pantyhose for women. I’ve already heard one complaint about the mayor’s request and in that complaint it said that “Mr. Bing should concentrate on the issues he was hired to repair and not on women’s under clothing!” I saw that comment and just realized how far we are from the classical formulas of success. I wonder if the commenter realized that all business offices require shirts and ties for male employees and pantyhose beneath pant or dress suits for female employees. Any atmosphere that is not required as such would be a “relaxed” or “casual” dress code.
If Mayor Bing has the duty of getting Detroit politics going in the right direction, then obviously the perceptions of these individuals have to change from YouTube clowns to business professionals so that our city can be taken seriously with or without the auto industry. The image of Detroit and the people who represent it has been tarnished, but I believe Mayor Bing to be moving in the right direction. I’ll keep up with him from time to time to see if he proves me wrong. Catch ya’ on the FLIPSIDE. -Quincy Lewis COMMENTS Submitted by Tonja on 6/25/2009 11:15:19 PM WONDERFUL!!!!!
