Style Profile:FUSION
Fashion, art and music fit together so synergistically that it made perfect sense for Detroit Fashion Pages to put on an event that highlights all three. Fun and stylish people made their way Thursday night to the Detroit Artists Market for FUSION; the union of Detroit's top talent in independent fashion, music and art and DFP was there to talk to those folks whose style stood out from the crowd. Caroline Argirokastritis – Fashion Designer (whose clothes were featured in the nights show); Northern Detroit
Stand out Style: an amazing black and tan cocktail dress that she designed herself. Caroline describes her personal style as European with a Grecian influence. Favorite Designer: Guy Laroche Fashion Motto: It’s all about the back and shoulders.
Las Sneed – Chef, Caterer, and Artist living in Detroit
Stand Out Style: Leather blazer ($1100), polka dot tie (price unknown), and bright green Adidas ($50). Las; “like last without the t”, describes his personal style as, “refined, modern, comfortable, and classic.” Las also has a 300 + tie collection. Favorite Designers: Philippe Stark and Vera Wang Fashion Advice: “It’s ultimately about how your threads make you feel.”
Paul Rockson – African, French, Italian, and English Musician living in Detroit
Stand Out Style: A khaki colored blazer ($149) with bright colored shirt ($75), tie ($39) and pocket square ($29) from Kulhman Co. in Birmingham. Paul describes his personal style as, “The New Gentleman” and he gives you all permission to steal that phrase from him. Favorite Stores: Macy’s and Banana Republic Fashion Advice: “Always dress to suit yourself. Watch how things are put together in the store and create your own look based off of that Dana Keaton – Fashion Designer and teacher at College for Creative Studies living in Detroit Stand Out Style: A sparkly gold top that she made herself complimented by some gold accessories she picked up in Miami and some hot leopard print shoes from “The Shoe Lady.” Dana’s is an artist first and designs clothes that are totally unique. Dana describes her personal style as “school teacher by day and diva by night.” Fashion Icon: Sarah Jessica Parker Fashion Advice: “Don’t give up. Stick with it and find your niche. Don’t listen to what anyone else says.” Crystal Marie – Budget shopper and DIY Fashion Diva living in Detroit
Stand Out Style: Bohemian yellow sundress from Charlotte Russe ($20), wood trimmed yellow clutch from Old Navy ($10) and a necklace from Forever 21 that she tweaked to make unique. Crystal has multiple personality style disorder. Depending on her mood she could look retro, 80’s, or business casual.
