Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival: Created by the BrooklynBodega.com, the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival is a month long celebration of Hip Hop and everything the culture. Once a week, BrooklynBodega.com hosts an event catered to the Hip Hop culture. At the end of the month, BrooklynBodega.com throws a free concert under the Brooklyn Bridge. From sun up, to sun down! Since it's inception in 2005, the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival has, "moved from a 2,000 capacity venue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to the entire Fulton Ferry State Park with a capacity of 10,000" according to the Festival's producers. Hosted by the legendary Ralph McDaniels, previous Festivals have included performances by: Ghostface Killah, Big Daddy Kane, Fat Joe, Lupe Fiasco, Rhymefest, Sleepy Brown, Little Brother, Boot Camp Clik, Talib Kweli, Craig G, Skillz, Large Professor, Jeru The Damaja, Chubb Rock, and Kidz In The Hall. McDaniels is most known as the director/creator of the Video Music Box in the early 80's, and Associate Producer of Tupac Shakur's first movie, Juice. The 4th Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival is scheduled for Summer 2008. A3C Hip Hop Festival: Taking place in Atlanta, March 20-22 at the CW Midtown Complex, the 4th annual A3C Hip Hop Festival will feature some of the hottest names in underground Hip Hop. The A3C provides three, non-stop days of networking with the industry's hottest names in Hip Hop - behind the mic and behind the desk. Sponsored by URB Magazine, HipHopDX.com, and Myspace.com, the A3C festival will feature: The Clipse and the Re-Up Gang, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Jeru The Damaja, Little Brother, Wale, Detroit's own Guilty Simpson, and the duo C.R.A.C. which consists of LA newcomer Blu and Detroiter Ta'Raach. Atlantis Music Conference & Festival: Founded in 1998, the Atlantis Music Conference & Festival was created with the purpose to, "become the greatest platform for the discovery of new talent," according to the festival's website. Atlantis is a three day celebration of Hip Hop taking place all over Midtown Atlanta. The Atlantis Music Conference & Festival is unique because it features A&R reps from every major label gathered together to experience the new up and coming artists in Hip Hop on the same stage. "Now, here we are on our tenth year, showcasing 95% of the best unsigned talent from all over the world," according to the festival's creators. This year's lineup has yet to be released, but previous lineups consisted of: India Arie, Lil Jon & The Eastside Boys, Jermaine Dupri, Matthew Knowles, Teddy Riley, John Mayer, Floetry, and tons more. Sponsored by The Recording Academy (Grammy's) and the ASCAP, the Atlantis Music Conference & Festival is nothing to sleep on! SXSW: The festivals of all festivals, South By Southwest (SXSW)! Since 1995, SXSW has invaded Austin, Texas, with the best in: music, technology, video games, and independent film! SXSW is the ultimate destination for music lovers of all genres, not just Hip Hop. This year's SXSW featured artists and bands from all genres of music, including: Bun B (of UGK). Kidz In The Hall, Detroit's own Guilty Simpson, Sean Price and Buckshot of the legendary Duck Down Records crew, Van Morrison, The Cool Kids, Noisettes, Saul Williams, The Clipse, N.E.R.D., Ice Cube, Pete Rock, Talib Kweli, Detroit's own Buff1 and Now On, and loads of unsigned artists. CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival: CMJ is New York's answer to SXSW. CMJ not only features the best in music, but also keynote speakers such as: Yoko Ono, and Rev. Jesse Jackson. CMJ has also been the premier stage to movies such as Pulp Fiction in 1994, and Borat in 2006. Arguably the largest festival of its kind, the CMJ festival has been around since 1981. The 2008 lineup has yet to be formed, but previous festivals have included: Daft Punk, Eminem, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M, Run-DMC, The Killers, Green Day, Black Eyed Peas, My Chemical Romance, and Foo Fighters long before any of them were chart topping artists. CMJ08 starts October 21st and lasts through the 25th. Between these five festivals, there's something that every connoisseur of music, or just your average fan, can enjoy.
