Detroit's Hottest End Of Summer Concerts
With summer coming towards a dwindling end, its hard to believe that Labor Day -- which signals the end of summer -- is about a month away. Despite the harsh reality of winter approaching soon, there is still time to enjoy the summer. DFP has compiled a list of some of your last minute hottest concerts in the city: Boys Like Girls and Good Charlotte Thursday, August 7 @ the Fillmore The Soundtrack of Your Summer tour headlines with Boys Like Girls. This Boston-based pop/rock group features singer/guitarist Martin Johnson, bassist Bryan Donahue, drummer John Keefe, and guitarist Paul DiGiovanni. Full of catchy accessible pop-punk tunes, their self-titled debut album is no stranger to the Billboard charts. Nine Inch Nails Saturday, August 23 @ the Palace Nine Inch Nails has finally kicked off their long awaited tour titled, "Lights in the Sky". This industrial rock group has been reunited with its lead guitarist, Robin Finck, who departed from the group for a few years after doing a reputable job playing for Guns N' Roses. Maroon 5 and Counting Crows Friday, August 29 @ DTE Energy Music Theatre Maroon 5 is a Grammy Award winning pop rock band, drawing influences from funk and jazz, from Los Angeles, California. This headliner will feature hit songs such as, "Harder to Breathe", "This Love", "She Will Be Loved" and "Sunday Morning". Nas, Scarface and Foxy Brown Friday, August 29 @ Chene Park Nas and other prominent hip-hop figures will join forces for Chene Park's annual, The Return of the Legends series. Best known for his controversial albums regarding issues of race, poverty, and inequality, Nas just released his second untitled album from Def Jam. Busta Rhymes, Rakim, and Keith Murray Saturday, August 30 @ Chene Park Busta Rhymes and other hip-hop legends will take the stage for part two of the Chene Park's annual, The Return of the Legend series. Although Busta is a New York native, he has strong ties to the city of Detroit. The late J Dilla helped jump start his solo career.
