Love's Journey
Posted: 11/10/2008

Love's Journey: Spoken Songs By Cherrie Amour is the debut CD of spoken word artist, Cherrie Amour. Her spoken songs take listeners on a journey through the humor, pain, excitement and passion of her various love relationships.

"I wanted to share my love experiences and the lessons I've learned, with the hope that it will instigate women to approach love relationships from a conscious place and if they do not work out, be able to assess them and learn some important lessons," said Amour.

Born in the Caribbean, raised in Canada, and based in Detroit for over eight years, Cherrie Amour, a.k.a. Cherrie Woods is a communications consultant who leads a busy life. Along with her consulting work, she also served as President of the National Black Public Relations Society-Detroit chapter from 2005-2007 and is an avid community arts supporter. With Amour newest project, she adds to her already busy portfolio, the title of spoken songs artist.

Amour dedicated the CD to her sister Louella, who succumbed to a lupus related illness in 2004.

"My sister Louella was my 'love doctor.' She had a way of cutting to the chase and encouraging me to assess my relationship choices and most of all to be realistic about my expectations from relationships.

The CD project is collaboration with Detroit's own techno producer/musician Ray Merriweathers.

"Both Ray Merriweathers and I wanted to do something different with my poems. He had never produced a spoken word project and the techno scene was new for me. We like the combination and hope that others do too."
